Home Improvements - Kitchen Makeovers
I undertake home improvement that include kitchens and bathrooms, here’s several examples The key objective of this 1st makeover was to get rid of the island that housed a dishwasher, yet dominated the central area of the kitchen. We moved the dishwasher back to the wall, building a bespoke book case/wine rack to take care of another customer requirement to store and display cookery books, replaced the worktops, kitchen sink and replaced the ceramic flooring to the kitchen and utility.
Client testimonial:
“Mike took my dated old kitchen and transformed it. He advised on all aspects of design, fitting, finish and cost with absolutely superb results. Every small detail has been addressed with care to produce a top quality job. I could not be happier with his work” Rachel S. July 2014
The crucial result of the makeover was to remove the island that restricted passage through the kitchen, create a practical breakfast bar for children to eat and bring the kitchen up to date without the full cost of a full kitchen.
Images before the makeover
A stunning floor. With careful installation and great care with the grouting, the finish really enhances. A key installation decision that I pursued was to remove the existing ceramic floor, rather than take the easy option and overlay the new one, like everyone said I should! Sure it took longer, but walking towards the kitchen from the hall it would have been so obvious, had the floor been raised.
The tiles are the “travertine Grade A, Opus” from the Tile Depot in Basingstoke.

Howdens Tewksbury Light Oak Kitchen and Utility Renovation
This was a demanding project involving the replacement of a kitchen and utility, where the utility was the size of a small kitchen. The end result was beautiful and included integrated oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

Howdens Burford Cream Kitchen installation
The pictures below show a 4 day project to install this kitchen in a rental flat. Though the room shown is incomplete, the kitchen is fully fitted and includes a fitted hob, and integrated washer and oven.
The tap shown is the Grohe Ambi Kitchen Sink Mixer. This is a much better tap than the Howdens Lamona Lugano tap that does not rotate freely, and this, on two projects I have worked on.
