Slightly unusual, I have been directly involved in the maintenance of this beautiful
ornamental pond for 10 or more years. These two pictures show the maintenance carried
out last year. The pond was totally overgrown and filling up with sludge before I,
along with a couple of good friends, carried out a major clean up. The pond is enjoyed
by many residents across Chineham, despite the fact it is on private land adjacent
to the retirement homes in Farm View Drive. People are surprised to learn that I
have removed around 26 tons of sludge from the pond over the past 8 years, just using
a saucepan on a pole! The pond pictures show the before and after.
Though not commissioned for a politician, I built this beautiful duck house from
cedar (at my cost) to enhance the pond.
Such is my passion for this facility that now has my father inlaw as a resident.
